Birthday Hello

I dreamt of you this morning and woke up with a lighter feeling about this mystery called death. The strange thing is that I had forgotten that your birthday was approaching, until I woke up from the dream and saw that, just maybe, it was a birthday hello.

I dreamt of you this morning and woke up with a lighter feeling about this mystery called death. The strange thing is that I had forgotten that your birthday was approaching, until I woke up from the dream and saw that, just maybe, it was a birthday hello.

When you passed away three years ago, what shocked me the most was the finality of the goodbye. I could not grasp that this thing called death could take you away forever... but every day that passed seemed to lend strength to that idea.

And then I had this dream. Normally I have fantastical dreams where people keep turning into other people, rooms dissolve, monsters chase me, and so on. What made this dream special was its normality. It followed a normal time sequence and everything that happened in it could have happened in the real world. And best of all Kim, you were there. I could see you, hear you laugh, touch you, talk to you. We weren't just reliving a memory, we were having a brand new experience together. And when I woke up, I realized that death is not so final after all. Not only will you live on in the waking memory of all those who love you, but you will always be alive in their dreams.
